Skateboard decks are the wooden boards every setup is built around. This collection covers decks from 7.5" to 8.5" wide. Most decks are made from maple, traditionally pressed in seven layers.
Decks come from Hockey, Zero, Polar Skate Co, Chocolate, Pass~Port, Drawing Boards, Enuff, Fracture, Jessup, Girl, Welcome Skateboards, Powell Peralta, Real, Anti Hero, Krooked, Zoo York, Toy Machine, There, Alien Workshop and Meow. Widths include 7.5", 7.75", 8.0", 8.25" and 8.5", plus in-between sizes like 7.875" and 8.125". If you already know your width, the 8.0 inch skateboard decks have their own page.
Venom Skateboards covers the plain end: a gold blank deck, unvarnished art decks and blank multi packs.
Start with age and height, not shoe size. Riders under 5ft, roughly ages 3 to 10, suit junior boards at 7.25" to 7.5". From about 10 to 13, go full-size and let them grow into it, or choose 7.75" at the smaller end. Teenagers can start at 8.0". Adults and taller riders usually start at 8.25".
Wider decks are more stable and give more room underfoot, but they are heavier and harder to flip. Narrower decks are lighter and easier to ollie, but less stable.
Match your trucks to the deck. An 8.0" deck pairs with 5.25" trucks. Different truck brands use different sizing names, so use the For Deck Size filter on our skateboard trucks page.
8.25" is the width in inches. It suits adults and taller riders as a starting point, and it pairs with 5.5" trucks. For narrower boards, read our skateboard deck size guide.
Adults who cruise more than they do tricks often prefer 8.25" to 8.5". You get stability and room, but the board is heavier and harder to flip. Pair it with 5.75" trucks.
