This collection is complete skateboards for beginners: boards that come built and ready to ride, so you can spend your time learning instead of sourcing parts. A complete skateboard has the deck, trucks, wheels and bearings already put together, and the grip tape is normally already on.
You'll find completes from Venom Skateboards, Enuff, Fracture, Tony Hawk, Renner, MGP, Madd Skateboards, CORE and Rocket, among others. Venom has Junior boards at 7.25", My First Skateboard kids completes at 8.0" and Core completes at 7.75". Enuff has Classic Logo, Skully and Pow designs at 7.75". MGP has its Gangsta Series, and Renner has a Pro with a 7 ply deck, Virus trucks and Abec 9 bearings. Widths run from 7.25" up to 8.5". Some listings also offer helmet and pad sizes. To see every board, browse all complete skateboards.
Start with age and height, not shoe size.
Under 5ft or ages 3 to 10: a junior board, usually 7.25" to 7.5" wide. Ages 10 to 13: go full-size and let them grow into it, or 7.75" if they're on the smaller side. Teenagers: 8.0" is a good starting point. Adults and taller riders: 8.25", or 8.25" to 8.5" if you mostly cruise.
The trade-off is simple. A wider board is more stable but heavier, and harder to flip and ollie. A narrower board is lighter and flips more easily, but gives you less stability and less room underfoot. Our guide to the best beginner skateboard for kids covers what size and what board to buy. Adults can start with beginner skateboards for adults, and parents can look at kids and junior skateboard bundle packs.
The best one is a proper complete in the right width for the rider. Match the width to age and height using the guide above, then pick a graphic you like. A board that fits is easier to balance on and easier to learn on.
Venom Skateboards, Enuff and Fracture are the three we point most beginners towards. All have completes in this collection with the right components for learning. If you're unsure between two, ask us.
