Prototypes were tested modifications to several aspects of the board were made. As shapes became more refined and more time was spent riding the boards and exploring a spectrum of skating styles and applications, Loaded came to a crossroad in the project. On one hand the board was meant to be the next step in the evolution of the \u003cem\u003eFish\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eCeviche\u003c\/em\u003e genealogy: a pumpable, agile, and trick capable city commuter with just the right amount of lively flex. On the other hand, the creation of a board that was stiffer and more aggressive to instil confidence for a wider variety of riding styles was also wanted. After some deliberation, the performance characteristics that Loaded were after, would be best divided amongst two separate boards. The \u003cem\u003eKanthaka\u003c\/em\u003e has been designed with a gently rockered platform (enough to create a comfortable interface for sliding) that transitions smoothly into the kicks and an elliptical concave profile. The concave near the centre line of the board is quite shallow which ramps up gently near the rails.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eIntegrated Wheel Wells\/Flares: The wheel well flares on the \u003cem\u003eKanthaka\u003c\/em\u003e are a direct inspiration from the \u003cem\u003eChubby Unicorn\u003c\/em\u003e. Designed to enhance clearance on both conventional and reverse kingpin trucks. \u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eNose \u0026amp; Tail Kicks: The kicktails on the \u003cem\u003eKanthaka\u003c\/em\u003e are designed to provide excellent leverage for slides and manoeuvrability. They extend from the standing platform at a relatively shallow angle to generate a quick and give the \u003cem\u003eKanthaka\u003c\/em\u003e a well balanced pop. The nose and tail share the same profile shape, but the nose is slightly steeper than the tail. \u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eFlex \u0026amp; Damping: Solid for speed and crisp for pop, the \u003cem\u003eKanthaka\u003c\/em\u003e’s bamboo and fibreglass construction is stiff without feeling overbuilt. The board has been designed with a very minute amount of longitudinal flex - just enough to soak up some road vibration and help keep the ride smooth.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eGraphics: The \u003cem\u003eKanthaka\u003c\/em\u003e graphic is a reproduction of an early Colonial quilt reflected in the glacier glasses of a Tibetan Sherpa as he dives into a high-elevation emerald lake.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eGripTape: The griptape pattern on the \u003cem\u003eKanthaka\u003c\/em\u003e provides functional coverage on the kicks, standing platform, and rails for reliable traction and control in all applications.
