Drawing Boards skateboards are decks and complete skateboards from the Drawing Boards brand, with a book, clothing items and accessories alongside. Choosing a deck is partly about which one you like and partly about the width.
Most of the range is skateboard decks and completes. The decks include Romance, Unalome, Paintbrush, Rat Race, Spraying Mantis, Gent, Orangutan, Acupuncture and Hypatia. Widths run from 7.75" through 8.0", 8.125", 8.25" and 8.5" up to 8.8". Some graphics come in more than one width: Romance is listed in 7.75" and 8.5", Acupuncture in 8.0" and 8.125".
The completes include Drawing Boards x Venom Custom Completes, with Venom meaning Venom Skateboards. You will find the Food For Free Series Spring and the Wabi-Sabi Series Bundle in Grey and Blue, in widths including 7.75" and 8.5". There is also the book 101 Uses for a Skateboard.
Start with the rider, then the artwork. Ages 10 to 13 usually do best on a full-size board, and 7.75" is a good pick at the smaller end. Teenagers can start at 8.0". Adults and taller riders can start at 8.25", and anyone who mostly cruises might prefer 8.25" to 8.5".
The trade-off is simple. Wider boards feel more stable but are heavier and harder to flip. Narrower boards are lighter and easier to ollie, with less room underfoot.
A complete comes ready to ride, so it suits first boards. Our beginner skateboard guide covers what to look for, and the guide for kids around age 8 helps with younger riders. If you buy a deck on its own, match the trucks to the width: 8.0" takes 5.25" trucks and 8.25" takes 5.5". Truck brands name their sizes differently, so use the "For Deck Size" filter when shopping.
They are skateboard decks and completes sold under the Drawing Boards name. We also stock a few clothing items, accessories and a book from the brand. Our Drawing Boards video premier article is worth a read too.
Yes. The completes include Drawing Boards x Venom Custom Completes, in widths including 7.75" and 8.5". If you would rather pick your own trucks and wheels, the decks are sold separately.
Go by age and height first. Teenagers can start at 8.0" and adults at 8.25". Younger riders moving up to a full-size board can try 7.75". Check the width in the product title before you order.
